One of our most popular collector’s models, the Series 3 Land Rover began production in 1972. It retained much of the Series 2, with some “improvements” in various areas. Most noticeable was a new dashboard (known as the soft dash). This allowed for an uprated heater and twin speed wipers with auto-return, amongst other various switches and dials. Engines were largely similar, but the dynamo was replaced with an alternator. The gearbox received a synchro on 2nd to afford easier changes.
All Land Rover Series 3 vehicles are now regarded as British classics and hold a special place in the hearts of many, who appreciate their solidity and the idea that they can be maintained and repaired with no specialised tools.
